Tihany

Lake Balaton, known as the Hungarian Sea, is the largest lake in Central Europe. Tihany is a charming old fishing village, surrounded by lavender fields and beautiful landscape, fauna and flora located in the Tihany peninsula.

It is famous for the old Benedictine Abbey referred as Tihany Abbey. The Abbey has a magical view of the southern shore of Balaton and the oldest written words in the Hungarian language can be found in the 1055 establishing charter of the Abbey.

Balatonfüred

Balatonfüred is one of the nicest resorts along the lake shore. Its beautiful promenades, tree-lined avenues and stunning views of the Tihany Peninsula make this town the finest on the Balaton shore.

Tagore Promenade in Balatonfüred has many shops at the part close to Tihany. It is called Balaton’s main street and very popular among tourists. It is worth visiting to buy some Hungarian souvenirs.
